More companies use Headwave´s real time prestack visualization
Exploration / Seismic, Nov 16 2009 (Digital Energy Journal)
- Oil and gas majors, independents and seismic acquisition and processing companies have exploited Headwave´s real time prestack visualization software in their G&G workflows.
Since the launch two years ago, close to 500 terabytes of 3D prestack and poststack datasets have been loaded into Headwave´s software. This amount corresponds to more than 500,000 sq. km of 40-fold data.
"Both onboard and in the office, Headwave has become an invaluable tool for better, rapid decisions on 3D acquisition and processing. We are therefore collaborating with Headwave on 3D/4C QC. Processing visualization has improved our analysis of seismic data," says Mr. John Ege, Vice President of Bergen Oilfield Data Processing.
Headwave is installed on vessels and onshore as a visual QC tool, allowing seismic companies to immediately see the quality of the acquired data and identify corrupt traces or unacceptable noise.
Images and compressed datasets can easily be transmitted onshore. Back in the office, processors can use Headwave for velocity analysis and to visually detect problems that could arise during processing.
Headwave Inc, headquartered in Houston, TX, with offices in Holland, Norway and the UK, began deploying first versions of its software in oil and gas companies and processing companies in 2007. Since then, a wide range of clients world-wide deploy Headwave's software for quality control of acquisition and data processing, as well as for interpretation and analysis of prestack data and attributes.
Oil and gas independents such as Talisman, Lundin, Wintershall, Svenska Petroleum and other consultancy clients use Headwave for interpretation or de-risking. In the last year, two oil and gas super-majors have signed corporate frame-agreements with Headwave which allow them to deploy Headwave's software world-wide, separately and in conjunction with Petrel from Schlumberger Information Solutions.
Several upcoming projects both in acquisition and exploration which involve Headwave software and services have been scheduled and financed, and are expected to be started before year-end 2009.
