3D Fast-Track Pre-Stack Depth Migration in Eastern Mediterranean

Tuesday, November 21, 2017

Shearwater GeoServices has delivered a 3D Fast Track Pre-Stack Depth Migration (PreSDM) product for Edison International, following the efficient acquisition of a high quality 3D SHarp broadband dataset in the Eastern Mediterranean.

Shearwater offers onboard QC and processing across all vessels, ranging from real time quality control to high-end Fast Track volumes. Shearwater provides a range of Fast Track processing solutions designed in collaboration with Clients to aid early interpretation, whether Post or Pre-Stack domain and Time or Depth Migration algorithms.

Simon Telfer, VP Processing and Imaging of Shearwater, stated that "Edison required a PreSDM volume within weeks of completing the 3D acquisition. Our Onboard Processing and Depth Imaging groups worked closely to draw up a plan and deliver. By having our own easy to use, high-end processing software integrated with acquisition and processing accompanied by a flexible model for processing location, Shearwater are uniquely positioned to deliver this kind of high-end rapid turn around project close to our clients. We delivered to Edison a full 3D Pre-Stack Depth Migration product, including broadband processing and iterative model-building in just over 4 weeks from the final acquired shot record. We are excited to be able to offer high-end Depth Imaging as part of our Fast-Track products across our vessels."

Bruno Garcea, Seismic Supervisor of Edison's Egypt branch, affirmed "Depth Imaging and Broadband technology are key elements to achieve a better seismic image of sub-salt plays in the Eastern Mediterranean. So we required, for the first time, to obtain a quick depth volume immediately after acquisition. Shearwater took up the challenge and, just a few weeks after the last shot, delivered us a good quality and robust FT PreSDM product."

Davide di Biase, Exploration Manager MENA Area of Edison, added "Early interpretation, through an accelerated turnaround of seismic processing, is important factor to better planning and targeting exploration projects."
