ARKeX multi-client FTG survey for the Barents Sea

Thursday, September 19, 2013

ARKeX announced today that it has commenced a multi-client Full Tensor Gravity Gradiometry (FTG), Gravity and Magnetic survey in the recently opened South Eastern Barents Sea off the coast of Norway. The survey covers 31,920 sq km over acreage due for licence in the 23rd Norwegian Licencing Round.

The high resolution broadband data will be acquired using ARKeX''s proven FTG technology and will enable E&P Companies to map the subsurface geology in greater detail. Gravity gradiometry measures variations in the earth''s gravitational field and is a direct measure of the density distribution of the subsurface.

''With only 2D seismic data currently available in the region the addition of complimentary data, especially the FTG data set, will assist companies in improving their 3D understanding of the SE Barents and enable better informed exploration decisions to be made'', commented Phill Houghton, ARKeX''s VP New Ventures.

The FTG survey has industry pre-funding and is still open for participation during the acquisition phase. The final processed data and qualitative interpretation is expected to be delivered in Q4.
