CNPC Tarim chooses eDrilling software to optimize well construction

Thursday, May 7, 2020

eDrilling announced that it has been awarded a contract by CNPC Tarim for its well construction planning technologies.

CNPC Tarim will use eDrilling's well planning software suite for the specific purpose of more realistic dynamic modelling of the downhole environment for their well designs, accounting for transient effects in the wellbore. The software will be used to support simulations on dynamic multi-phase hydraulics and temperature including managed pressure (MPD) and dual-gradient drilling (DGD), advanced well control and torque & drag. This will be instrumental in keeping CNPC Tarim ahead of the curve for well construction optimization.

China National Petroleum Corporation's (CNPC) Tarim Oilfield, which lies to the south of the Tianshan mountain, in northwest China's Xinjiang Uyghur region, is China's largest oil and gas bearing basin. It is one of the starting points of China's west-east natural gas transmission projects.

CNPC is one of the largest integrated energy groups in the world, headquartered in China. CNPC is engaged in hydrocarbon exploration and production operations, onshore and offshore, in 34 countries in APAC, Africa, South America, the Middle East and Central Asia-Russia.
