Digi-Tally and Arecon system for tracking oil and gas pipe

Thursday, November 1, 2012

Arecon Data, a company based in Oklahoma City which makes the "Tally Wizard" software for oil and gas pipe management, has announced a tie-up with Digi Tally Inc, a company based in Midland, Texas, which provides a laser based pipe counting system.

Digi-Tally's laser system is a mobile system which can be used to measure the length of pipelines, using an eye safe laser. The information is processed on a mobile computer. It can be used in pipe yards or production facilities.

The "Tally Wizard" software has a "yard view" module which lets you see your entire inventory of tubulars / pipelines in all of your facilities. It has a "Drill Pipe Inspection" module which gives you information about the history of a piece of drill pipe. It runs on the cloud.

Using both systems together, you can manage information about pipe lengths.

'Pipe and tubulars are bought and sold by the 10th of a foot, unlike any other assets," says Jeff Arms, CEO of Arecon Data.

"The engineers have specific depths to reach and require exact footage. '

"Digi-Tally offers accurate digital measurements, the tallies are integrated with our software reducing yard hands and manual input that cause costly errors."
