Ikon Science partners with FUSE IM

Ikon Science has signed a partnership agreement with the UK based information management solution company FUSE IM to develop and support a new breed of Open knowledge management system for rock physics and associated data.

The first version of the product will be commercially available in December 2013, under the brand name RokDoc MetaStore.

The development is funded in part by major Ikon Science customers, who have actively participated in the scoping of the project to address their pressing need to capture, reference and make available to their geoscientists and engineers a wide range of rock property data together with the business-critical knowledge generated by Ikon Science's flagship software platform RokDocQED & other sources. Using an advanced metadata engine and GIS-based search and filter tools, licensees of this new system will be able to efficiently manage, locate and aggregate critical information and knowledge from past QI, GeoPressure and GeoMechanics projects including rock physics measurements from core and laboratory measurements,algorithmic relationships, analytic information and geologically referenced reservoir and overburden. Data input/output will be possible in all standard industry formats.

The application will be Java based, giving cross platform Windows and Unix access and enabling cloud- and private cloud-based hosting accessed from a web browser. David Holmes, Director of Operations at FUSE IM commented: 'We are excited to be providing our expertise in developing E&P information systems to this unique enterprise solution for rock property data. Based on our XStreamline Platform, the RokDoc MetaStore will deliver enormous value to the Global RokDoc and rock
property user community who are looking for comprehensive data governance, centralised access and workflow-oriented collaboration.'

Each project generates a wealth of knowledge, understanding and analytics about the application of rock physics to different formation types, reservoir architectures, fluid characteristics and much more. Because it has been designed as an open system, RokDoc MetaStore will allow users to rapidly search for past analogues and comparison points to more effectively understand and work on new problems such a deep water drilling, geomechanically active and unconventional reservoirs.'

As a component of Ikon Science's Science and Content concept, the company's Roknowledge non-exclusive basin and regional studies covering rock physics and geopressure will be made available as digital packages for the MetaStore, enhancing the usability and scope of these studies by merging the information they contain into a customer's own knowledge base.
