Ikon Science readies international team for market recovery

Tuesday, June 6, 2017

Ikon Science, the reservoir geoscience company, is strengthening its presence in several
key international oil producing areas.

Mark Bashforth, CEO, Ikon Science said: 'Our announcement today is the latest initiative and signal to the upstream oil and gas community that we are raising the company's capability and status as a world leader in quantitative geoscience for the upstream oil and gas industry.

'Significant new additions to our international management team come as we see signs of an upturn in the market. We are therefore preparing for major growth in our software and services in Australasia, the Middle East, and Southeast Asia. I am excited about the talent and experience we are recruiting and confident that, as a result, Ikon Science will earn further industry recognition and customers for its technology solutions.'

In Australia Pieter Gabriels is set to head up Ikon Science's business development and client relationship management for Australasia. Formerly a QI Geoscientist with Shell, one of his priorities will be to focus on reservoir geoscience opportunities onshore. The company over the past decade has already established the value of its integrated geomechanics and quantitative interpretation (QI) in the NW Shelf, notably with RokDoc Ji-Fi, winner of a number of prestigious industry awards in the process.

Mehdi Belrhalia has been appointed business manager for Ikon Science's Middle East and India markets. Previously with CGG Software in the Middle East, he will be based in Abu Dhabi where the company is opening a new office. A geophysicist by training, Mehdi spent 12 years of his career with Schlumberger. In his new role he will help provide clients with solutions to the challenging reservoir issues in the region, achievable by integrating advanced Ikon Science technologies early in the reservoir characterization cycle.

Joining Ikon Science's Malaysia office in Kuala Lumpur as Business Development Manager for Asia
Pacific's emerging markets is Fareed Mushtaq. Fared comes from CGG Jason where he was responsible for business development in the Asia-Pacific market and brings a total of 16 years experience working for companies such as Landmark, Roxar, SPT and Fugro-Jason.
