Mick Longton (RIP)

Mick Longton, commercial director of fibre optic distributed sensing company Silixa, passed away on October 22, 2017.

Mr Longton joined Silixa in 2013 as commercial director, with a vision of to transform the way distributed sensing is used in the oil and gas industry.

He had over 30 years' experience in the oil and gas service sector and held an MA in Engineering from Cambridge University, where he enjoyed rugby and rowing.

Mr Longton spent over 20 years with Baker Hughes holding various management positions across the globe. He was Regional Manager at Baker Atlas responsible for North Sea, Continental Europe and Caspian prior to moving to the corporate office as Director for Baker Hughes' Global Integrated Operations.

Following his time at Baker, he was CEO of two VC backed technology companies in the Netherlands (Twister BV and EmBaffle BV).
