Openworks, Now Oracle Exadata Ready

Thursday, October 23, 2014

The OpenWorks database is fully tested and is supported on Oracle 11g Release 2 and Oracle Real Application Clusters (RAC); OpenWorks database has also achieved Oracle Exadata Ready status through the Oracle PartnerNetwork (OPN). This achievement demonstrates that Landmark supports OpenWorks 5000.10.1 with Oracle Exadata Database Machine.

Reserves replacement is a key challenge facing the upstream operators. With increasing pressure to quickly produce more accurate well locations and the rapidly expanding volumes of data associated with determining those locations, teams must manage and share project data easily and efficiently.

The industry-leading OpenWorks project data management system brings hyper-collaboration to asset teams enabling them to share information, insights and interpretations instantaneously with people and across locations. Users can effectively manage, access and analyze a broad range of oilfield project data all within a single database. Your teams can deliver the best interpretation results with high data integrity while eliminating data duplication and dueling versions of the truth.

Consolidate multiple projects and databases
With the OpenWorks solution, all active project data - not just data for a single project or for a single user - is stored in a single place, reducing data duplication. Changes to data are shared dynamically across teams and interpretation projects, enabling better, faster decisions by drawing from common data. Using Oracle 11gR2 RAC or the Oracle Exadata Database Machine, OpenWorks database is a leading solution for upstream exploration and production (E&P) designed to enable fewer datasets and even fewer databases for you to manage, maintain and synchronize, resulting in lower operational costs.

Oracle Database offers Landmark industry-leading performance, reliability and scalability to power the most demanding applications. It also helps customers save money by lowering storage usage, reducing administration tasks, and enabling consolidation onto secure private database cloud environments.

Start small, scale to enterprise needs
Running the OpenWorks hyper-collaboration environment on Oracle RAC and Oracle Exadata, teams can scale from small operations to managing large numbers of assets and projects without a need for infrastructure updates or disruptive changes. The asset team shares a common geological framework for a common understanding of the subsurface.

When team members share the single version of truth, they collaborate and reach decisions faster. OpenWorks R5000.10 software is designed for superior performance and is significantly faster than the previous OpenWorks database release.

Deployment flexibility - from laptop to a cloud
New deployment options with OpenWorks R5000.10 software remove the constraints of being in the office. Today, companies can deploy stand-alone as well as multi-user enterprise environments based on the individual asset team needs. An enterprise installation can extend multi-user environments to include mobility with synchronization, improving collaboration and enhancing team productivity.

Dramatically reduce total cost of ownership
The OpenWorks data model offers E&P professionals a broad range of oilfield data in a single industry-leading database. Whether you're using a Landmark application, a product from another vendor or a proprietary application, you can access the same copy of OpenWorks project data. Based on an open platform, OpenWorks database provides data to the widest range of E&P applications in the industry
