Shell to host first ITF event in Houston

Tuesday, May 1, 2012

ITF (Industry Technology Facilitator), an industry owned organisation which helps companies work together to develop new technology, has announced that Shell will host its first Houston meeting, which will be held in Shell's Houston offices in September 2012.

Already confirmed is a presentation from Wafik Beydoun, President and CEO E&P Research and Technology USA with Total.

ITF anticipates raising $15 million funding from the region by 2012 to develop new technology such as for seismic imaging and unconventional reservoirs.

It wants to set up a "cluster group" in Houston, which will bring operator and service companies together to identify common technology challenges within the region and then seek commitment on collaborating to solve them.

'We want operators with interests in the US to get behind collaboration through this dedicated cluster group," says Neil Poxon, managing director of ITF.

"We are confident that it will speed up the development of technologies that are sorely needed to support the capture of harder-to-reach reserves."

"The ITF model has been proven around the world and this targeted approach to technology development will benefit the industry as a whole as well as academia and companies with the brightest ideas.'
