Subsurface hackathon on machine learning before EAGE in Paris this June

Monday, January 30, 2017

Agile Scientific, of Nova Scotia, Canada, is running a two day "hackathon" on machine learning on the two days before EAGE in Paris, this June 10-11.

Admission is Eur 10 (until May 27), then Eur 20.

The event organisers say you should expect the hackathon to be a "short burst of creative energy, making things that may or may not turn out to be useful. In general, people work in small teams on new projects with no prior planning. The goal is to find a great idea, then manifest that idea as something that (barely) works, but might not do very much, then show it to other people."

The event is sponsored by Dell EMC and Sandstone Oil and Gas, an exploration service company with an office in New Orleans.

On the previous day, Friday June 9, Agile Scientific will run a "hacker bootcamp" in Paris, about machine learning in Python. Event is followed by a special EAGE session on Monday June 12 on "data science for geosciences," including looking at big data technology, with two of the four convenors from TOTAL.
