Doing More With Offshore Engineering Data
Making Better Decisions About How To Operate The Field - By Gathering & Making Better Use Of Data
Tuesday, October 14, 2014, Kuala Lumpur, Impiana KLCC Hotel, Kuala Lumpur

At our Kuala Lumpur conference on October 14th, "Doing more with Offshore Engineering Data", we will be looking at better ways to get a better understanding of what is happening offshore.
- Better ways to gather data, including standardised instrumentation and RFID
- Better ways to structure data management, including creating a Digital Asset of all of your information
- Better ways to use the information to get a deeper understanding of what interventions might be worthwhile
The event is organised together with the Malaysian Oil and Gas Services Council (MOGSC) IO/IT Working Group and AVEVA, with speakers from PETRONAS Integrated Operations and Facilities Engineering Data team. We also have talks from Landmark (Halliburton), Opentext, IDS, Amtech and Intergraph.
Early registration tickets are available for RM 200 with a further 25% discount for MOGSC members and employees of oil and gas operators using registration code MOGSC. Register now to secure your place!
Our October 2013 event on the same topic attracted 66 attendees, including 20 (30%) from operators - see
here.
We also have an event on the previous day,

How the Digital Supply Chain and 3D Intelligent Modelling are Transforming Engineering and Operations across the Information-driven Value Chain
Talk Description. The convergence of new technologies and methods is disrupting traditional business models. For decades now, 3D plant design has been on a steady adoption curve in the industry , slowly transforming engineering from a document-based paradigm to what it is today – information-based, intelligent modelling. The principle challenges to realizing the full potential of this intelligent, information driven enterprise has been how to keep the models up-to-date, while efficiently managing the flow of information across the value chain – from suppliers, to EPCM contractors, to the owner-operators and back to field services companies - through the life of the physical asset. Learn how a digital supply chain and master data governance can streamline and transform your business

Douwe Franssens - General manager - Independent Data Services (IDS)
Upstream Operational Reporting in the EPC(M) World
In his 5th year with IDS, Douwe has been instrumental in migrating traditional desktop and Excel based functions to the web and allowing universal access to operational data. Before joining IDS he spent 18 years with a Halliburton company focusing on Real Time data acquisition and transmission. Combined with the time spent with BosKalis a world leading Dutch dredging company, his career has relocated him to almost every continent, including Saudi Arabia, Qatar, UK, Malaysia, USA and Canada. The IT side of the industry has always fascinated him as a lot of the elements, including connectivity, are never following the accepted norm, which challenges those who implement solutions for clients to have to think outside the box.

Ray Howarth - Engineering Director, Process, Power & Marine, Asi - Intergraph
Getting Your Engineering Data Right - So You Can Do More
Talk Description. As an owner-operator, you may be grappling with the issue of how to do more with your offshore engineering data. However, what happens when it takes you months just to locate your data, or if you are unable to ensure its validity? You’re not alone: owner-operators all over the word are facing this challenge. To compound the problem, many are operating assets that were put in place as far back as the mid-1960s, with input from various production sharing contractors and EPCs. Typically, these assets were handed over with many key documents missing or even incomplete. Furthermore, over the years many modifications and repair works may have been undertaken without the changes being recorded and the data or documents updated. With many owner-operators from the global oil and gas, petrochemical, and power industries now facing the requirement to extend the life of or re-engineer these assets – as well as ensure their integrity and process safety requirements – the issue of asset data management has never been so critical. Intergraph® helps owner-operators deal with these challenges by utilising laser scanning technology developed by Leica Geosystems, which is then made intelligent by next-generation 3D design solution, Smart™ 3D and linked to the structured information and data of the asset in SmartPlant® Enterprise for Owner Operators. This innovative solution allows the owner-operator to see the plant and access its data, without having to visit ‘in person’, saving time and money and avoiding exposure to unnecessary risks. Now you can do more with your engineering data.
Ray is the Asia-Pacific Engineering Director with over 35 years of experience in plant design, and operations and maintenance. He has worked for Intergraph since 1989 in the Asia-Pacific Group, and has been involved in many major projects and implementations for engineering, procurement, and construction (EPC) companies and owner operators. Ray is currently responsible for SmartPlant Enterprise solutions throughout the region, and he advises on the solutions most suited to a company’s requirements.
Intergraph Intergraph is a leading global provider of engineering and geospatial software that enables customers to visualize complex data. Businesses and governments in more than 60 countries rely on Intergraph's industry-specific software to organize vast amounts of data and infuse the world with intelligence to make processes and infrastructures better, safer, and smarter.
