Doing more with drilling data

Drilling more efficiently and safely

Organised by Digital Energy Journal

Tuesday, October 16, 2012, Stavanger, Norwegian Petroleum Museum

How can we do more with the drilling data we generate to improve safety, efficiency and working collaboration?

We'll explore this in our Oct 16th free Stavanger conference.

Speakers include Nour-Eddine Lahlah, Principal Engineer - Drilling Technology Operations with Statoil on how to implement a 3D visualisation system for drilling data on Windows.

And Lars-Christian Røsberg, Business Analyst Well Operations, ConocoPhillips Norge and Bjørn Einar Bjartnes, Principal Engineer, Computas on using a social-media style system for managing drilling data.

Michal Kanda from Petrolink on getting seamless data integration from rig to shore to real time improve decision making, Enrico Saperdi from BB Visuals on early warning systems and visualisation of well data, and Knut Midtveit of Roxar on using real time drilling data with reservoir simulations.

Chaired by Sigve Aspelund, a senior petroleum engineer consultant who has worked at BP, ENI, Total, Shell, Talisman and Statoil.

The event provides valuable information and ideas about how you can help your company get more out of its drilling activities and maximise safety and efficiency.

And all delegates will be offered lunch at the Bolgen & Moi restaurant in the beautiful Norwegian Petroleum Museum of Stavanger, and can visit the museum at no charge.

We look forward to seeing you in Stavanger

This conference follows our October 2011 Stavanger event "people and the digital oilfield". and our our May 8 2012 Aberdeen event "drilling and the digital oilfield"

Drilling goes social

Talk Description.
In spite of impressive advances in drilling technology, the cost of drilling is soaring and represents a significant and increasing part of oil recovery investments. Data is available in abundance, but drilling teams are struggling to make sense and good use of the data in daily operations and decision making. Interestingly, we work better together, involving the whole team in stressful situations that demand close cooperation and quick communication. We believe that social media similar to the sharing, blogging and chatting tools we use in our private lives can help us to achieve the same level of collaboration more regularly, enabling us to quickly obtain expert support, achieve a common situation understanding, and rapidly converge on a sound decision in complex drilling situations. We have built a pilot system combining high-level visualization of drilling progress with problem-specific decision tools, all based on a social collaboration platform. In the talk we will present and demonstrate the solution and report on preliminary results of its validation in an operational setting.
ConocoPhillips / Computas
