This event is a meeting place for people in Aberdeen working with well integrity, who would like to keep up to date with the latest developments in thinking and practise to do more with data to manage the integrity of wells, both during drilling and over the lifecycle.
Problems we will tackle include keeping on top of geophysical stability while drilling, understanding integrity of wells you have acquired,
getting a better understanding of the condition of older wells without physical examination, and making better decisions about which older wells require attention.
Student / academic registrations are available for £5 (£6 with VAT) if you register with voucher code 'ACADEMIC'
We have a related event on the previous day, doing more with drilling data.
Limited places, please register now to secure yours!

Ian McRobbie - Consulting Solution Lead - Wipro Limited
Safeguarding Well Integrity post-Transfer of Owner
Talk Description. - exchanging well integrity data during asset divestments / acquisitions - identifying, extracting and verifying relevant data - understanding what downhole equipment you have acquired, decisions which led to its installation and what data these decisions were made on
With recent global activity showing an average of between 85 – 90 Asset Divestments / Acquisitions per quarter, at a total cost of ~$35bn per quarter, the Oil and Gas industry seems set for a for a continuing future of asset exchanges, both in the Upstream and Downstream segments.
It’s strange then that there does not appear to be any real consensus regarding the exchange of, and more importantly the audit of, data during these transactions ; no industry recognised standard framework exists for th

John Kearns - Well examiner - NRG Well Examination Ltd
The well examiner's perspective on improving the management of production phase well integrity
Talk Description. In the past, in relation to well integrity management, the main focus has often been on the well design and construction phases of the well life-cycle. More recently a number of operators have also started to pay increasing attention to the production operations and maintenance phase.
As independent Well Examiners working for a wide range of operators around the world, NRG WEL has a unique perspective on the different approaches to production-phase well integrity management that are being adopted.
In this short talk we will consider the following: - Developments in Technical Standards for production well integrity management. - The type of production-phase integrity records that are now being compiled. - Differing approaches to record-keeping and data manipulation. - The role of the Independent Well Examiner.
John Kearns has over 35 years experience of the international upstream oil & gas industry in a variety of engineering, operations & HSE management roles. More recently he works with NRG WEL as a Well Examiner specialising in intervention, workover and production-phase well examination. John has degrees in both Chemical Engineering & Petroleum Engineering.
NRG Well Examination Ltd NRG Well Examination Limited (NRG WEL) provides independent assessment of the integrity of well design, construction and production operations for the international upstream Oil & Gas industry. Although well examination started in the UK as a result of post-Piper Alpha regulations, the approach is increasingly being adopted around the world. NRG currently has some 40 clients covering well operations in Europe, the Middle East, South America, Asia and Australasia.
