Greg Coleman

Greg’s 35+ years in the oil and gas industry from front line drilling supervisor to senior executive in BP has enabled him to have insight into how action and leadership at the top of an organisation work at the front line.

Greg worked for Amoco until 1986, then BP Canada and BP Group and then co-founded Canamens, a private E&P Company. He was Executive Assistant to BP’s CEO during the merger with Amoco and acquisition of Arco. He has worked in Canada, the US, Venezuela, England, Scotland and Norway. He led BP’s award winning Investor Relations team in 2000 & 2001. In 2006, he became the Chairman of AGR AS taking the company public on the Oslo stock exchange leading to a market cap of ca $0.7 bn. He has spoken widely on corporate responsibility, sustainable cities, climate change and HSE in business. Greg was on the board of the International Petroleum Industry Environmental Conservation Association from 2002-2006 and was Chairman from 2004 to 2006.

He specialises in advising clients on governance, strategy, risk management, M&A and commercial & operational insights to improve business performance. He is working with Heriot Watt’s Institute of Petroleum Engineering to create a Petroleum Risk Management Academy and lectures at Insead’s Executive Education Program
