Aberdeen
Doubletree by Hilton Hotel Aberdeen Treetops

Good design means good business. Designers need to continually break barriers, creating tools, structures and well completions which can do much more for less, and get a much better understanding in advance about how well their designs will work, in an environment of increased complexity, increased focus on costs, but increased reward for design innovation.

At this event we'll look at how to get the most out of digital tools to do more with designs - make structures, tools and completions which can last longer, do more and cost less - created with more accuracy - and use design data to help manage the asset over its lifecycle. Limited places, register now to secure yours.

We hope that this event will develop into an annual meeting place for Aberdeen design engineers, to talk about the latest technology and methods which can help you design plant, equipment and wells which can do more with less. If you think this is a good idea, please register.

Digital Energy Journal is a magazine in London covering digital technology in the offshore oil and gas industry. We have previously run events in Aberdeen on optimising supply chains (Nov 2012), facilities management (March 2013), subsurface data (March 2013 and March 2012), drilling data (May 2013 and May 2012) , IT Infrastructure (May 2013 and June 2012).

Modelling the Future - Possibilities, Probabilities, Opportunities

Talk Description.
The use of digital models to support the efficient design and delivery of Oil and Gas facilities is today a long established practice, so much so that it’s tempting to take it for granted. But think back to the days before this technology was common place - when plant design was a manual process of hand-calculations, drafting boards and reams of drawings, where the only models were plastic ones. The impact of digital modeling has arguably been transformational, but today technology itself is changing at breakneck speed. How might disruptive trends like cloud computing, or mobile computing, or the phenomenon of ‘social connectivity’ shape the plant design process of tomorrow? This session will share observations and suggestions for how trends in technology, in information and in business might converge to create a range of new and exciting opportunities.

Engineering Design & Simulation - Keeping your options open

Watch Video
Talk Description.
Engineering Design & Simulation in the offshore environment is a challenging process. Marine structures are large, physically complex and operate in harsh environments. Given the cost associated with this scale of engineering, the industry is reliant on simulation to ensure that Government, Health & Safety and Industry Standards are adhered to. The design of these structures requires a fundamental understanding of a number of design parameters and how they interact. Changes to the design parameters during the lifecycle of a project become more and more difficult and costly to implement. Building designs & simulations with flexibility in mind makes it possible to keep your options open
