Absoft creates new support services division

Thursday, May 29, 2014

SAP provider Absoft is refocusing its international consultancy operations into the energy sector, and created a new division to deliver SAP support services across multiple industries as it works to realise its global growth potential.

Absoft is a key provider of SAP business systems which control and manage all aspects of operations in oil and gas across the asset and project lifecycle, working with major operators and service companies primarily operating in the North Sea and Europe.

The company, founded in Aberdeen in 1991, has restructured its senior management team as it concentrates on enabling oil and gas sector businesses to achieve ongoing operational excellence.

A new integrated support services division will provide consultancy to companies in the wider business marketplace which rely on SAP. Absoft provides consultants who work in-house with its clients, as well as providing on-demand remote support to businesses.

The company is working to establish itself as a centre of SAP excellence for the upstream oil and gas industry, drawing in talent and intellectual property to drive forward positive change in operations on and offshore.

Don Valentine, Absoft's long-standing client-facing business operations leader, is named operations director, and the company welcomes former consultant Eric McAdam to its board as professional services director.

Keith Davidson, who joined Absoft in 2010, steps up as director of the new support services division, while Debbie Mackenzie will focus on key client relationships in the new position of strategic account director.

The restructure brings Absoft full-circle from a diversification move carried out in 2012, says founder and managing director, Ian Mechie: "We know where our key strengths lie - delivering significant efficiency and cost control improvements through SAP systems to operators and major service companies in oil and gas.

"We have developed the most in-depth expertise available when it comes to helping companies achieve safe and compliant operations in the most regulated environments globally.

"Three years ago we made a conscious effort to diversify and while we enjoyed success in our expanded work in manufacturing, higher and further education, market conditions meant our ambitious growth targets in those areas could not be realised.

"Throughout the intervening period, we have seen continuous growth in oil and gas, and it is that demand which has driven our decision to refocus on our natural area of expertise, where we are renowned as the industry-leading specialist.

"That has also fuelled our desire to create a centre of excellence for SAP in oil and gas. I strongly believe that our people can drive forward real positive change for our clients' operations through SAP process research and development, by nurturing talent and by capitalising on our expansive intellectual property to deliver those improvements to the industry.'

Absoft has more than 100 highly-trained and capable consultants, with wide-ranging experience and a proven track record of success in energy.

The company is accredited as a Gold Partner by SAP in the UK, recognising its quality in product support, development of new solutions, proven industry experience and high levels of customer satisfaction, as well as sales performance.

Absoft operates out of three key locations - its Aberdeen headquarters, and bases in London and Stavanger, Norway.
