American petroleum institute offers e-learning programs from Oilennium

Thursday, June 26, 2014

Oilennium Ltd., a Petrofac Training Services (PTS) company that provides eLearning training services to the oil and gas industry, has been selected to supply a range of online eLearning modules to the American Petroleum Institute (API) for its training portal API University (API-U). With more than 550 corporate members, the API is a national trade association that represents the interests of the oil and natural gas industry in the United States.

The award is especially significant for Oilennium because the online training courses are the first among Oilennium's top interactive eLearning modules to be authorized for purchase by the API. The selected courses include:

· Introduction to Oil & Gas

· Occupational Safety & Health Administration (OSHA)

· Health, Safety, Security, the Environment & Quality

· Fundamentals of Drilling

Larry Myers, Director of GP Strategies, a global performance improvement solutions provider that hosts API-U, stated, 'As a major provider of training, certification and standards for the oil and gas industry, the API is always looking for ways to enhance its eLearning catalog to improve safety and performance for the industry. Oilennium's approach to eLearning makes difficult concepts easier to understand and retain.'

Kevin Keable, Managing Director of Oilennium, stated, 'The API has a reputation for providing training services of the highest standard, therefore, having the eLearning modules featured as part of the API-U eLearning catalog is a real testament to the quality and effectiveness of the training that our modules deliver. It also represents a considerable step forward for Oilennium as we integrate our offering further into the global marketplace.'

The Introduction to Oil & Gas eLearning suite is already available on the API-U portal. The course, which can be purchased and accessed anytime online, offers a concise summary of how the industry works, from exploration and production upstream to processing and transmission downstream. The user-friendly, fully interactive course features full voiceover guidance and colorful 3D animations technology throughout. When a module is successfully completed, a certificate is issued to motivate further learning. By the time the 12-module course is successfully completed, the user will have a solid grasp of how hydrocarbon fields are found and developed, along with industry terminology, and basic technical know-how.

By offering online courses, including those produced by Oilennium that draw upon the psychology of effective training, API-U provides affordable training tools that are capable of being accessed by thousands of employees simultaneously. By doing so, they help companies build a consistent level of technical knowledge and understanding throughout their workforce. Because the training can be accessed anytime, anywhere and because managers can monitor individual user progress makes it the perfect complement to refresh knowledge gained from classroom training and qualification programs.
