AnTech develops new well heads

Friday, July 13, 2012

AnTech Ltd of Exeter, UK, reports that it has expanded its range of well head outlets, which connect the downhole cable to the surface telemetry system.

The well head outlet is designed to provide a safe connection between the cables, and seal against downhole pressure, so that the well head integrity is maintained if there is a flooding downhole.

It has developed the new products in response to requests from operators and service companies in the North Sea, Gulf of Mexico and Far East, who wanted to improve their continuous monitoring of downhole temperature and pressure, he said.

It has a lightweight electrical Type-C4 Wellhead Outlet for smaller wellhead connections.

The company is currently developing a fibre optic well head outlet which can cope with pressures up to 15 kpsi and temperatures up to 204 degrees C.

The company is also developing a hybrid wellhead outlet, which will be available in 3 combinations, a) fibre and electric, b) fibre and hydraulic, and c) electric and hydraulic. This means that operators will be able to monitor well conditions whatever connections they have.

AnTech Ltd provides directional drilling and design engineering services.

All of its well head outlets are ATEX- and IECEx-certified.

'As advances in downhole gauge technology continue to escalate, the quality of connections at surface must evolve. The addition of these new wellhead outlets, which complete our portfolio, keeps AnTech ahead of the game,' said Tim Mitchell, Sales Manager at AnTech.
