Atlas e-learning course on mechanical joint integrity

Friday, August 24, 2012

UK e-learning company Atlas has launched a new e-learning course on mechanical joint integrity.

It is designed for workers who carry out specialist pipeline bolting work, working both onshore and offshore.

The course is approved by the Engineering Construction Industry Training Board (ECITB).

The course supports the industry's desire for ongoing performance development of workers to ensure competency in specialist critical pipeline bolting, Atlas says.

The course should make a big contribution to industry efforts to reduce overall hydrocarbon releases, by ensuring competency of workers who are making, breaking and maintaining pipeline joints.

The course can also be used to assess worker's competency.

There are 6 mandatory and three specialist modules on hydraulically torqued bolted connections, hydraulically tensioned bolted connections and hand torque bolted connections.

'It's highly important for the future of the oil and gas industry that we continue to improve performance in the assembly and maintenance of mechanical joints, reducing incidents and accidents," says Tony Featherstone, Director of Operations at ECITB.
