BP uses Asset Guardian to manage process control software on Clair Ridge

Tuesday, August 26, 2014

BP has selected the "Asset Guardian" software to manage process control software on its Clair Ridge project, West of Shetland (Scotland).

The Asset Guardian software keeps track of all the software used to run the control systems, including keeping a store of the original data (so users don't have to keep the original CDs), and keeping record of which software updates have been made and when.

BP will use Asset Guardian to manage all of its process control software on the Clair Ridge project and associated assets.

The Clair Ridge project includes 2 bridge linked platforms and pipeline infrastructure, connecting to processing facilities onshore. It will use reduced salinity water injection for enhanced oil recovery.

BP has a global fame agreement with Asset Guardian - and already uses the software for facilities in Angola, Azerbaijan, Oman, Oklahoma and Alaska.

Each phase of the project development, building topsides in Korea, jackets in Norway and final commissioning in the field, requires a slightly different type of system configuration to manage and protect the project's software files and data, Asset Guardian says.

Asset Guardian is able to ensure that the integrity of software files and data is maintained throughout the project.

There is a tool to synchronise data and files between multiple locations.
