Bell Geospace acquires new Lockheed Martin instrument

Friday, February 26, 2016

Bell Geospace, world leaders in Gravity Gradiometry, is pleased to announce that they have acquired their fourth Full Tensor Gravity Gradiometer (FTG).

The addition of this instrument to their fleet will allow Bell to continue to meet the needs of clients in Africa and Southeast Asia while increasing activity in the Americas and Europe.

Bell Geospace provides high-resolution full tensor gravity gradiometry data using FTG systems manufactured by Lockheed Martin in Niagara Falls, NY. The instruments are sited on modified, turboprop DC-3 aircraft, enabling an immediate response to client needs as they remain survey-ready while en route to any part of the world.

Scott Hammond, CEO, is delighted by the increase in the Bell Geospace fleet. 'Our clients are looking for ever more efficient ways to de-risk their exploration programmes, particularly in these challenging times. FTG provides them with high resolution data at a low cost, enabling seismic and other techniques the ability to be far more targeted, thus reducing exploration costs. This additional instruments allows us even greater agility in responding to our client needs whenever required'.

Bell Geospace clients include Oil & Gas companies as well as Mineral exploration companies. FTG data is used to plan cost-efficient seismic programmes and model sub-surface geology to find natural resources.
