CDA 5 year contract with SIS to operate CDA DataStore

Friday, March 9, 2012

Common Data Access (CDA) reports that it has signed a new 5 year contract with Schlumberger Information Solutions (SIS) to manage its subsurface database.

CDA is owned by UK oil and gas industry body Oil and Gas UK. It manages subsurface and production data for UK oil and gas companies, to make it easier for them to provide data to other companies when they are required to do so. Many companies also use the service to manage data which is not shared with other companies.

The business covered in the contract was previously covered in 3 separate contracts, for well data, seismic data and DEAL field and investment information.

'It makes operational and commercial sense to combine the three separate contracts into one and to use this as an opportunity to introduce the improvements our clients are telling us they want to see in our services," says Malcolm Fleming, managing director of CDA.

'We will work with CDA to deliver world-class data management services for oil companies and other users active on the UKCS," says Gordon Ballard, chairman of Schlumberger Oilfield UK plc.

"The services offered by the CDA DataStore allow UK operators and other parties to rapidly and cost-effectively access quality data on UKCS wells, seismic surveys, production licences and infrastructure from anywhere in the world."
