Centrica uses Teradata's data warehouse appliance

UK oil and gas company Centrica has acquired the data warehousing system from Teradata, "Teradata Data Warehouse Appliance".

It will use it to integrate and centralise its data.

It has also purchased the "Teradata Logical Data Model for the Utilities Industry" and the "Teradata Analytical Applications for Customer Management and Data Mining."

Centrica spent 12 months evaluating which system to use, conducting a comprehensive study including analysis, request for quotes and proposals along with many detailed reference visits or calls over a 12-month period with existing Teradata customers.

Centrica will now migrate data from its many existing databases to the enterprise data warehouse hosted on the Teradata Data Warehouse Appliance.

Centrica will also save money by consolidating its management information databases.
