Consolidated Energistics standards Release Candidate now available

Energistics is pleased to announce that a consolidated release candidate for WITSML, RESQML and PRODML standards is now available for public review and comment. See below for highlights.

The consolidated Release Candidate includes new versions of WITSML (v2.1), RESQML (v2.2) and PRODML (v2.2) along with a new version of Energistics common (v2.3) that is compatible with all three MLs. In addition, updated versions of the EPC and Identifier Specifications are included with this consolidated release candidate.

Please document comments, questions and any other feedback on the Feedback form. Be as detailed as possible and note the specific section in question for each comment. Comments may be returned to standards@energistics.org.

The Public Review and Comment period ends March 18, 2022.

WITSML
WITSML v2.1 addresses bugs and lessons learned from v2.0 implementations. Issues addressed include:
• WITSML v1.4.1.1 parity
• Channel data object clean up
• Growing Data Object clean up
• JSON representation
• Other data object clean-up
• Datum/Trajectory/Tool Error Model enhancements
• Improvements to Energistics common
• OSDU Compatibility

RESQML
RESQML v2.2 addresses bugs and lessons learned from v2.0.1 implementations. Issues addressed include but are not limited to:
• Bug fixes and design improvements
• Select objects moved to Energistics common for use by other MLs
• Changes to Energistics common to address RESQML workflow requirements
• Added support for Graphical Information
• Added elements, attributes and enumeration in support of OSDU
• Added support for XML arrays, statistics on arrays, and column-based tables.
• Documentation improvements to reflect changes to RESQML, Energistics Packaging Conventions (EPC) and option to use Energistics Transfer Protocol (ETP)

PRODML
PRODML v2.2 addresses bugs and lessons learned from v2.1 implementations. Issues addressed include but are not limited to:
• PVT model design improvements, particularly fluid analysis, fluid characterization, fluid sample acquisition, fluid sample, and flow test job; plus, worked examples
• Changes to Energistics common to address PRODML workflow requirements
• DAS schemas and worked examples remain unchanged but it should be noted that Energistics Packaging Convention v1.1 has been updated (used for DAS workflows); also refer to recommendations for file content regarding software version (related to HDF file)
