Dan Piette joins Headwave Board of Directors

Headwave, Inc announced that Dan Piette has been appointed to the company's Board of Directors as Strategic Advisor.

'Dan brings with him a wealth of understanding of the ongoing changes in the industry and the opportunities that offers. Additionally, Dan combines great business acumen with solid understanding of technology so he's a perfect fit to this role,' said Diderich Buch, Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of Headwave.

Working with large integrated oil companies and seismic companies since 2006, Headwave has introduced software for multi-terabyte prestack visualization & characterization to an appreciative market.

Over the past 3 years, Headwave has invested in a next-generation fully GPU accelerated geoscience platform, with the support and collaboration of a supermajor. Concurrently, the supermajor used Headwave's platform to deploy leading-edge in-house research, which fully exploits Headwave's strengths in visualization, GPU accelerated real-time computations and data handling and HPC. 'Their efforts validate our vision: There is business and technical value in a new, alternative platform that enables clients and us to deliver better workflows,' says Buch. Headwave is in parallel developing new products for velocity model building, depth conversion, wide-azimuth workflows and more.

Piette joins Headwave's board to assist the company in growth through strategic industry partnerships and collaboration with major oil and gas companies.

Piette currently serves on the Board of Directors of Petroleum Geo-Services (PGS), a Norwegian-headquartered company with a presence in 25 countries. Piette also serves on the Board of Visitors of the Geological Engineering Program at the University of Wisconsin-Madison - a group of professional engineers and geoscientists constituted to support the strategic objectives and vitality in the College of Engineering.

In previous roles, Piette served as President, CEO and Chairman of Terraspark Geosciences, on the board of Object Reservoir and led OpenSpirit through years of successive growth, eventually transitioning into TIBCO. Piette has also held leadership positions at ION, Landmark Graphics and Bell Geospace amongst others. He holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Mining Engineering from the University of Wisconsin-Madison.
