Expro's $10m contracts for cableless reservoir test system

Friday, May 4, 2012

UK well flow technology company Expro has won $10m contracts for its cableless reservoir testing system, called "cableless telemetry system (CaTS)."

Two operators in Brazil will use it to generate pressure and temperature data from four deepwater subsea wells.

It will also be used by two operators of wells in the North Sea, one well located west of Shetland with the other located in the Central North Sea.

The system transmits data to the surface via the well's casing or tubing.

It can be retrofitted into existing wells.

The technology can also be inserted into abandoned wells, to monitor the reservoirs.

The data communications is not interrupted by cement plugs or bridge plugs.
