Hermes Datacomms gets trading license for Iraq

Friday, November 25, 2011

Oil and gas satcom and wide area network communications company Hermes Datacomms has announced it has received a trading license from the Republic of Iraq Ministry of Trade, to supply communications services in Iraq.

Hermes Datacomms says that by obtaining the license it "secures its position as one of the 'big five' international VSAT service providers in Iraq."

The company says it is moving away from being solely a VSAT communications provider, to being a broader "communications solutions provider".

The company provides 'turnkey' projects which incorporate fibre optic communications, 'last mile' access, fixed, mobile and microwave services.

'We see huge growth currently taking place in Iraq and predict that this will continue steadily, if not exceedingly for the next 5 to 10 years," says
Kevin Thorley, CEO of Hermes Datacomms Middle East.

"Our mission is to ensure that we are not only effectively established within the region, but also that we are continuously developing and strengthening our own offering to cater for the demands ahead.'
