IDS launches StockNet in Middle East

Friday, November 5, 2010

IDS, a leading provider of web-based reporting and analysis services to the upstream oil and gas industry, is poised to launch its latest product, StockNet, to the Middle East.

StockNet is a complete web-based logistical planning solution. One of the DataNet2 suite of tools from IDS, StockNet has already been deployed across Europe, Asia and Australia and will now be available throughout the Middle East. Beth Anderson will be representing IDS at ADIPEC to further explain the benefits of this advanced logistics tool.

StockNet has been devised to streamline the often-complex logistics that govern traffic to and from and on a rig. Rather than information being held on a spreadsheet with various versions dispersed between the rig, town and service providers, with StockNet everyone is able to access the same document. Black-box technology ensures the system is synchronised and the outcome is the elimination of duplication errors.

It is used by operators predominantly to track stock once it has left the warehouse, through shipping, to usage on the rig site and return. The key advantages of StockNet are its simplicity, ease and speed of use. The system is so straightforward that training rarely takes more than an hour and it can enable users to raise a manifest in just two or three minutes, says the company.

StockNet aims to incorporate all logistics information and make it easy to share and transfer: The Master equipment list can be shared and all the information can be viewed in advance. The StockNet purchasing tool allows users to raise purchase orders. A ‘drag and drop’ facility to build manifests, load-out lists, etc, dramatically eliminates both the time spent creating multiple spreadsheets and the errors associated with cutting and pasting.

The system incorporates a rental register and flags up a reminder if items remain on hire for longer than intended. Being web-based, StockNet is easy to share with vendors and partners and can be used as a standalone system or as part of a wider package. StockNet can integrate seamlessly into other purchasing systems, such as SAP, thus providing a vital link into existing embedded systems.

Data security is highly important to IDS. StockNet, and indeed all the DataNet2 suite of reporting and analysis tools from IDS, allow users to be given different rights of access through secure and personalised accounts. All the data is stored and backed up on remote servers and is easily recoverable.
