Industry leaders to consider new SAP database management system

Thursday, June 18, 2015

Absoft, the SAP support specialists, will host its first technical SAP forum on June 25, which will delve into the world of SAP HANA and allow delegates to gain an understanding of how the system can deliver cost savings and make them more competitive.

SAP HANA is SAP's new database management system (DBMS) that uses in-memory computing, column storage, compression and optimised analytical processing to provide an extremely fast database platform. HANA's real strength is in fast read performance, allowing better reporting in more detail over more data than ever before.

Absoft principal consultant Brian Reid will deliver a session on SAP platform selection strategy and present the options for the technical platform for SAP. This will be followed by a discussion relating to which factors influence an organisation's choices and how challenges in selecting or changing a platform have been overcome.

Absoft senior consultant Robert MacDonald will also provide an overview of SAP's latest product offerings, SAP HANA and S/4HANA, and explore what these options are and how they affect existing SAP teams, IT budgets and how delegates can get on the right path to SAP HANA or the cloud.

The event will close with a demo of how HANA allows for direct reporting on live SAP data.
Mr MacDonald said: 'Our forum will provide an opportunity for stakeholders to hear about how SAP HANA can simplify their existing SAP landscape to reduce cost, whilst improving the insight they can gain into their business through effective reporting.

'Absoft has run SAP forums in Aberdeen for many years and it's exciting to be discussing a new platform for SAP and an opportunity to use the latest technology to help our customers achieve their objectives. It should be a great day as there will be discussion in the room to allow attendees to share their views as well as Absoft sharing information on how SAP customers are adopting different technical platforms.'
