Knowledge Reservoir resources evaluation contract with Yemen Ministry

Thursday, March 15, 2012

The Yemen Ministry of Oil and Minerals has given a contract to energy consulting company Knowledge Reservoir to evaluate the country's hydrocarbon basins.

The contract was awarded by Yemen's Petroleum Exploration & Production Authority (PEPA)

The project includes a detailed evaluation of the region's hydrocarbon basins.

All producing fields will be studied and reserves assessed and certified in accordance with international oil and gas standards.

Knowledge Reservoir's team will work closely with a team of geoscientists and engineers from PEPA, based in the Yemen capital of Sana'a.

PEPA staff will also be trained in the latest resource assessment workflows and knowledge management techniques.

'After a rigorous evaluation process, which included assessment of proposed technical workflows, previous experience, and commercial aspects, PEPA has identified Knowledge Reservoir as the preferred partner for this significant study," says Hisham Sharaf Abdulla, Minister of Oil and Minerals in Yemen.

"The company is particularly well suited to execute this project given its complement of staff expertise in the required areas, as well as experience in delivering similar projects with great success.

"PEPA is highly confident in the contribution that this project partnership will make to the re-establishment of the Republic of Yemen's petroleum reserves and resources base.'

'Yemen, despite the challenges being faced, continues to represent a significant potential resource for oil, gas, and minerals. Subsequent to the successful outcome of the recent election, plans are now being made to launch a worldwide campaign aimed at re-introducing Yemen to the world as a new prospect in the field of natural resource exploitation.'

"We are pleased that this project award is an acknowledgement of our credentials in this type of reserves and resources evaluation and certification, which often dictates the necessity for a higher degree of expertise in reservoir modeling," says Dr. Ivor R. Ellul, CEO of Knowledge Reservoir.

"The award reflects well on our growing expertise and experience in the development and deployment of workflow process tools and knowledge management consulting services and solutions.'
