New co-chairs at Step Change in Safety and Asset Integrity Steering Group

Step Change in Safety announced new appointments to lead the body.

Steve Bullock, senior vice president of HSSEIA at Petrofac, has been appointed co-chairman of Step Change in Safety. Alan Johnstone of AMEC is the new co-chair of the Asset Integrity Steering Group, which focuses on the ability of an asset to perform its function effectively and efficiently over its whole lifecycle, so that major accident hazards are properly controlled.

Steve Bullock, who will work alongside co-chair Ken Robertson of Shell, said: ''I''ve been working with Step Change for more than five years now, initially on human factors and latterly as co-chairman of the Asset Integrity Steering Group so this new role is an exciting opportunity for me to get involved in the wider Step Change remit. Our focus remains on the important areas of human factors, increasing workforce involvement, helicopter safety and asset integrity which is key to continuing the drive to significantly reduce hydrocarbon releases in our industry.''

Alan Johnstone, who has over 20 years'' experience in the oil and gas industry both on and offshore, said of his appointment: "I am delighted to take up this latest role as I believe that asset integrity is fundamental to the safety of this industry. There has never been a better time for us all to work together to continue to improve, for the good of everyone in the North Sea."
