Tesla Exploration buys 10,000 wireless Inova seismic stations

Tesla Exploration, a seismic acquisition company based in Calgary, has acquired 10,000 x 3 channel wireless seismic recording stations from INOVA Geophysical.

It has bought INOVA's "Hawk" autonomous nodal seismic recording system.

The initial shipment is 18,000 channels (6,000 stations). The units are being deployed at a project on the Marcellus Shale on West Virginia.

The other 12,000 channels will be delivered mid June 2012.

The system will enable Tesla's crews to improve productivity, flexibility and safety, INOVA says.

The same field station electronics can support both 3- channel analogue geophones and VectorSeis multicomponent digital sensors.

"We look for equipment that allows our crews to operate efficiently and safely in any environment, so we were impressed with Hawk's ability to download data quickly without a lot of infrastructure," says David Buttle, President of Tesla Exploration Inc.

"In February of this year, INOVA performed a side by side comparison of the Hawk system deployed next to their cableless recording system using analog and VectorSeis multicomponent sensors. From this test we were able to evaluate and witness productive output of high-quality data acquisition from the Hawk system."
