Talk Description The use of digital models to support the efficient design and delivery of Oil and Gas facilities is today a long established practice, so much so that it’s tempting to take it for granted. But think back to the days before this technology was common place - when plant design was a manual process of hand-calculations, drafting boards and reams of drawings, where the only models were plastic ones. The impact of digital modeling has arguably been transformational, but today technology itself is changing at breakneck speed. How might disruptive trends like cloud computing, or mobile computing, or the phenomenon of ‘social connectivity’ shape the plant design process of tomorrow? This session will share observations and suggestions for how trends in technology, in information and in business might converge to create a range of new and exciting opportunities.
